Often during the growing season I play my favorite amateur gardener game:
“Hon, is this a weed or a plant?”

This year, due to my ambition and our recent diet changes, we are growing a much larger crop that needs much more space than our current designated area. There will be green and red lettuce in our front flower beds as ground cover! I’ll plant some carrots out there too, stop by and have a salad sometime.

Well, due to increase in new growth this year I thought I label those pesky veggies. But I loath the plastic tags, we’ve lost Popsicle sticks, and I just couldn’t see spending big bucks on something “designer”. Yup, I made my own. $10 in wood, leftover paint from other projects, some nails, glue and sanding and I now have a small forest of garden stakes to mark my lettuce’s territory with.
